10 unique places where living things can survive

Earth is the only living planet in the universe as far as we know it. Life is thriving in almost every corner of the globe, and some are even thriving in seemingly insignificant places. Of these, the following 10 are some of the most unique places for life to thrive.

1. Bitumen

Tiny microorganisms thrive in very hot bitumen. One nylon bitumen tank on the world’s largest natural island of the Caribbean contains about 10 million micro-organisms per gram of bitumen.

2. Radioactive emissions

About 10 grays of radioactive material can kill humans, but Deinococcus, a bacterium, is resistant to up to 5,000 grays without any problems. It can withstand up to 15,000 grays. The Guinness Book of World Records lists these bacteria as the world’s most resistant bacteria.

3. Boiling water

Heat and pressure from hydrothermal holes under the ocean floor can kill us instantly. But they are also home to some species. In the hydrothermal holes beneath the Pacific Ocean floor, there is a blind shrimp and some other species.
